Musculoskeletal Injury Prevention – Manual Materials Handling Train the Trainer (MMHTT-02)

Musculoskeletal Injury Prevention – Manual Materials Handling Train the Trainer (MMHTT-02)

This 2-day instructor-led blended workshop, available virtually or in-person

Note: You must complete The Musculoskeletal Injury Prevention Orientation course, a 60-min Free OnDemand Course, ideally 7- 30 days before taking the scheduled Instructor-Led Training.

This workshop emphasizes the importance of safely lifting and handling objects. According to WCB data, sprains and strains consistently rank as the most common injuries in the healthcare sector each year. Utilizing proper body mechanics for lifting and moving—both in the workplace and at home—significantly contributes to reducing injuries.

Day 1:

The instructor will cover the theory and lifting techniques and provide coaching to ensure you are performing the lifts safely. In the afternoon, you will practice safe lifting and be assigned portions of the course to assist you in preparing to present the material back to the group on day 2.

Day 2:

You will demonstrate your knowledge and understanding of what causes musculoskeletal injuries by presenting the portions of the theory. This will help you to gain confidence and comfort in demonstrating and coaching participants on the S.A.F.E. handling techniques that are crucial for minimizing their risk of injury.

To earn a certificate of completion, you need to successfully finish an open-book competency exam, achieving a score of 80 percent or higher.

To enhance your learning experience, we provide a safe environment where you can showcase your understanding of the theories behind musculoskeletal injuries and prevention strategies. You'll be able to apply what you've learned in your daily activities and professional life.

Components required to participate in the course: stable internet2 devices (examples: laptop, tablet, smart TV, smartphone); shelves, and boxes for lifting and a cart or dolly for pushing/pulling.
